Mud Volcano!

The children explored the simple science of baking soda and vinegar today.  They first built their mud volcano by mixing mud and play dough together creating a mountain. They had fun mixing and slathering on the gooey mud with spoons and their hands.  Cade found a tiny worm within the mud as they all took turns examining the small creature.  We next made a hole in the top of the mountain and filled it with baking soda.  The children took turns spraying the baking soda with spray bottles filled with vinegar.  They loved watching the chemical reaction occur as bubbles started flowing down the mountain and onto the table.  What a fun science exploratory day today!
