The Anatomy of a Pumpkin

Finally the time had come.  The time to unveil what's been hiding inside.  The children anxiously watched as I split the pumpkin in half.  Revealing itself like some horror film, the guts displayed all over the table.  The children gathered the slimy seeds and hoarded as many as they could.  I gave them toothpicks and swords to poke and prod exploring the anatomy of a pumpkin.  They had fun poking as many toothpicks into the soft skin of the pumpkin.  We washed our seeds and cooked them for a tasty treat.  Later we used our seeds in our playdough for sensory play.  The children enjoyed pressing the seeds into the playdough and making designs.
