Red & White Fizzy Painting

Our science explosion Red & White Fizzy painting was a blast.  I had the children squeeze red paint on their papers which they spread around with a paintbrush.  Then they  sprinkled and shook vigorously white baking soda all over their red paint.  Then they were given spray bottles with vinegar to spray the paper.  The explosion of bubbles began as the vinegar reacted with the baking soda.  The children loved the reaction and experimented over and over again!  They over-layed another piece of paper onto their paintings to make a print and soak up the excess deflated bubble concoction.  The children began finger painting the concoction with their hands and loved feeling the fizzy bubbles on their hands.  Madden made a “heart” as she finger painted her picture.  This was a great activity with the kids and I loved watching their excitement when they made fizzy bubbles!
