Storytelling was a big hit today! We acted out the story "Quick as a Cricket" by Audrey Wood, a wonderful story and illustrations about a boys personality. The children ran and hopped around the house as quick as a cricket, slithered on the floor to be as slow as a snail, curled up into ball and laid on the floor to be as small as an ant, waved their arms to the sky to be as large as a whale, made boo boo lips to be as sad as a basset, smiled big to be as happy as a lark, hopped around like bunnies to be as nice as a bunny, growled to be as mean as a shark, shivered to be as cold as a toad, meowed to be as weak as a kitten, showed their muscles to be as strong as an ox, roared at the top of their lungs to be as loud as a lion (they liked this one the best!), shhhhh shhhh to be as quiet as a clam, showed our muscles again to be as tough as a rhino (with some extra grunting!), caressed our friends to be as gentle as a lamb, barked around the house to be as tame as a poodle, danced around the house to be as wild as a chimp, laid on our backs to be as lazy as a lizard, and lastly, buzzed around the house to be as busy as a bee. Whew! What a great story about self-awareness!
