Chinese Lanterns

     Today we painted Chinese lanterns to celebrate Chinese New Year.  The big, round lanterns were exciting to paint as they resembled balloons.  We talked about the texture on the lanterns as the children felt the ribbed texture across their balloons.  The children painted their lanterns with red and gold glitter paint.  Some of the children enjoyed turning themselves into red lanterns themselves as their faces and arms were shades of red.  We hung our lanterns and chanted "Happy Chinese New Year!"
