The children had a blast making our mud volcano today! They built their volcanos out of dirt, sand, and playdough, adding water along the way for just the right consistency. We talked about the triangle shape of volcanos and the children helped each other build the perfect volcano with a hole in the top! Then they added baking soda and sprayed away until bubbles and bubbles of "lava" started erupting and flowing down the volcano. We also had some mud pie madness as everything mixed together creating a slurpie mess! Some of the children creating mini volcanos and experimented with the scientific reaction of baking soda and vinegar. The fun was holding baking soda in their hand and spraying vinegar to make bubbles overflow. What an explosive day!
