Abstract Art

Today we explored painting with red, white, blue, and black, and used our paintings to create abstract art by cutting the paintings into strips and gluing them on our papers.  Rylan practiced his circles as he began his painting, then merged them into his blue strokes as he painted.  Cade explored mixing white paint into his black paint and made "silver".  Caleb made many stab marks on his paper creating red dots and lines everywhere.  Wyatt explored dipping his hands into our paint jar and made his hands the color blue.  Avery and Meadow practiced using their brushes as few strokes made it onto their papers, but mostly on their faces and hands!  The children of course had fun squeezing glue onto their papers as strings of glue from the air hit their paper.  I cut their paintings into jagged strips to glue on their piles of glue.  Our lasting impressions were works of abstract art!
