Sledding with Friends

Our playground has become an ice skating rink with our warm weather lately and has been challenging the little ones on their core balance. The sledding hill is still a big hit even though we are losing the snow more and more each day.  I was very impressed at how well the children this year work together cooperatively to master the sled down the hill.  Alexandra has become the mother hen helping Benjamin and Spencer down the hill.  She  holds the sled still and steady so the little ones can get in front and then she hugs them tight from behind scooching the sled forward to drop into the shoot. The giggles and smiles are priceless! Sometimes 4 or 5 children are piled in the sled holding on tight to one another  as they all trust each other to take the plunge.  It’s great to see the teamwork, leadership, problem-solving skills, and social coactivity that has been happening all from one sled. I purposely have only one sled out to help with these skills of course!  It warms my heart to see what enfolds each day and I have been very proud of all the children for working together so well.
