Sugar Cube Absorption Painting

The sugar cube tower absorption painting was a  science explosion. The children learned that the sugar cubes absorbed the paint very quickly turning the white cubes and towers into soft watercolors. Then as quickly as they turned color the towers dissolved into a sugary sticky  puddle. They enjoyed placing new sugar cubes into the puddles and watching the whole process over again.  At the end of the project their little hands were very sticky and they enjoyed watching their skin stick together as they clenched their fists open and close.  Of course at the very end after they explored the sticky mess they raced pulling their chairs up to the sink to wash away the sugar and again be clean!
