Sensory Cornmeal Art

What could be more fun than a day filled with glue and sprinkles!  The children had fun spreading webs of glue all over their papers.  Cade and Alexandra held their glue above their heads to get the longest string of glue strands that poured onto their papers.  Everyone experimented with different heights as they got beautiful webs of glue on their paper.  Some had pools of glue as they squeezed in one continuous place on their paper until all the glue in their bottle was gone.  Then we brought out shaker jars filled with cornmeal and nutmeg.  The consistency was like coarse sand and different to the touch.  It smelled wonderful as the scent of nutmeg filled the air.  The children shook the jars vigorously spreading the cornmeal and nutmeg all over their webs of glue.  Alexandra's hair was swept into the glue as she smelled the yummy scent on her paper.  Lyla enjoyed squeezing glue onto her hand and enjoyed catching the cornmeal and nutmeg as she sprinkled it onto her hand.  The coarse, gritty texture mixed in with the sticky glue made a delightful, sensory art project!
