Smelly Koolaid Watercolors

Our Smelly Koolaid Watercolor art was delicious!  I placed various flavors of Koolaid in shaker jars and let the children sprinkle their papers with the rainbow of colors.  They then used their spray bottles to wet their papers and release the beautiful colors from the Koolaid.  Koolaid colors of blue, red, yellow, and green became our watercolors and released a wonderful scent from the different flavors.  The children enjoyed smelling their papers and tasting the "paint".  We had wonderful scents of strawberry, lime, lemon, and berry.  They soon realized that the sweet smell was quite bitter without any sugar, as many mouths puckered from the bitter taste!  Papers became soaked as water ran off their papers onto the table and colors swirled and mixed everywhere.  Koolaid crystals that didn't get dissolved by water looked like splatters on their papers.  The children's hands became stained from the dye in the Koolaid and left a lasting impression on our wonderful sensory art!
